The foreign participants were from Indonesia, Laos,\nMyanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Malaysian participants\ncame from various agencies namely the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA),\nMalaysia Airport Holding Berhad (MAHB), Malaysian Air Force, Royal Malaysian\nPolice, Royal Customs Department, Immigration Department as well as Malaysia\nAirlines(MAS) and Air Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The opening ceremony on 18 June was officiated by Datin\nPaduka Rashidah Ramli, the Director General of SEARCCT. Present was H.E David\nPine, High Commissioner of New Zealand and Mr Hiten Patel, representative from\nthe Department for Transport, UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Seminar sessions were facilitated by two experts from UK\n&#8211; Hiten Patel from Department of Transport and Jim Termini from Redline\nAviation Security, and two experts from New Zealand &#8211; Murray Breeze and Hugo\nPorter from the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main aim of the seminar was to promote regional\ndiscussion aviation security issues. It provided the opportunity for\nparticipants to enhance knowledge and understanding on &#8211; aviation security\norganisations ; threat to civil aviation and risks to its security; to be able\nto implement appropriate security policies and procedures, to meet\nInternational Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and other local requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Best practices from New Zealand and the UK were introduced\nto the participants, especially in safeguarding civil aviation operations\nagainst acts of unlawful interference, through regulations, practices and\nprocedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants were taken on a visit to the Kuala Lumpur\nInternational Airport, Sepang on 21 June, hosted by Malaysia Airport Berhad.\nBriefings were given by DSP Maarif bin Maarof during the site visit to the LCCT\nTerminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seminar was closed on 22 June by Dato\u2019 Hidayat Abdul\nHamid, the Deputy Director General of SEARCCT. At the closing ceremony,\ncertificates of attendance were presented to the participants.
