This workshop was attended by 28 participants (grades 41 &#8211; 44) from\nvarious agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The speakers who led this workshop were SEARCCT\u2019s newly\nestablished local trainers from relevant agencies, namely the Royal Malaysia\nPolice, Attorney General\u2019s Chambers and Bank Negara Malaysia. These trainers\nwere initially trained by Australia during SEARCCT\u2019s Financial Investigation\nWorkshop in March 2017, making this workshop, a first, by these trainers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"648\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/CTFI-Pahang-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-933\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/CTFI-Pahang-1.jpg 648w, https:\/\/staging.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/CTFI-Pahang-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As an introductory SEARCCT-programme on terrorism financing,\nthe modules were focused mainly on, Terrorism Financing &#8211; Overview, Financial\nIntelligence, Malaysia\u2019s Terrorism Financing Legal Framework, Malaysia\u2019s\nApproach to Counter Terrorism Financing and International Counter Terrorism\nFinancing Tools and Roles of other Agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the course of three (3) days, participants were exposed\nto the alarming threat of Daesh through the statistics of terrorist suspects in\nMalaysia while understanding the various legal tools in Malaysia that are in\nplace. They were then made aware of the differences between money laundering\nand terrorism financing, along with the various terrorism financing typologies\nthat were discussed through several terrorism financing case studies in\nMalaysia and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"611\" height=\"407\" src=\"https:\/\/www.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/CTFI-Pahang-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-934\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the table top exercise, participants managed to\ngauge the challenges in gathering evidence for cases of terrorism financing in\ncourt. Here, coordination among agencies, was seen as an imperative element in\nensuring successful counter terrorism financing operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In essence, SEARCCT received encouraging feedback from the\nlocal trainers who had successfully completed their first exercise and\ndisplayed motivation and commitment to share their expertise with SEARCCT in\ncapacity-building programmes on terrorism financing.
