SEARCCT and the ASEAN Malaysian National Secretariat (AMNS), Ministry\nof Foreign Affairs, Malaysia collaborated to co-organised the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"635\" height=\"423\" src=\"https:\/\/www.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ARF-KL-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-964\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ARF-KL-1-1.jpg 635w, https:\/\/staging.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ARF-KL-1-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Datin Paduka Rashidah Ramli, Director General of SEARCCT\nofficially opened the workshop. In her opening remarks, she stated that ISIS\nhas defied international norms, ethics and their growing numbers show no signs\nof decline. Their radicalisation and recruitment methods have proven to be\nhighly successful which serve not only to bring thousands of recruits into\nSyria and Iraq but more recently acts as a catalyst for localised acts of\nterror within the borders of our many countries. The Director General alluded\nthat countries need to learn from each other, trust one another, share the\nfailures and explain the success stories in countering radicalisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"635\" height=\"423\" src=\"https:\/\/www.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ARF-KL-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-965\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Co-Chairs were Mr. Mohammad Azhar bin Mazlan (Malaysia)\nand Mr. Yoshi Kodama (Japan). Akhir, Royal Malaysian\nPolice; Mr. Tarik G\u00fcrleyen, Violence Prevention Network, Germany; Ustaz Mohamed\nFeisal Mohamed Feisal, Religious Rehabilitation Group (RRG), Singapore;Mr.Ahmad\nEl-Muhamaddy, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM); Dr. Debra\nSmith, Navitas College<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of Public Safety (NCPS), Australia; Ms. Zora Sukabdi, Global\nCenter of Well\u2013Being, Indonesia; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hatta Shaharom, Cyberjaya\nMedical University College, Malaysia; Ms. Elina Noor, Institute of Strategic\nand International Studies (ISIS), Malaysia; Ms. Nur Azlin Mohamed Yasin, RSIS;\nDr. Zahri Hj Yunos, Cybersecurity, Malaysia; Dr. Ahmad Faizal Perdaus, Medical\nRelief Society Malaysia (MERCY); Mr. Jeremy England, International Committee of\nthe Red Cross (ICRC), Malaysia and Mr. Thomas Koruth Samuel, SEARCCT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"635\" height=\"423\" src=\"https:\/\/www.searcct.gov.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/ARF-KL-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-966\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The two day programme discussed on the theoretical and\nconceptual framework of radicalization and de-radicalisation which focused on\nthe evolution and analysis made on the subject; countries experience at\nstrategic and operational level on counter radicalisation; psychological aspect\nof radicalisation; challenges in the rehabilitation process; law enforcement\napproach in dealing with Internet Radicalization; and the importance of\ncountering the narratives of the terrorist. There was also a luncheon talk on\nthe peacebuilding process in Mindanao, Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Workshop brought in senior officials from ARF countries\nand experts in counter radicalisation to explore and discuss on this important\nissue.
