Terrorism 101 bersama Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi

The Terrorism 101 Workshop, jointly organized by the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT) and the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), was successfully conducted on 10 November 2025 in Putrajaya.

The programme gathered 50 participants and served as a platform to enhance awareness on terrorism-related issues, national security challenges, and Malaysia’s evolving approaches to countering violent extremism. The session was formally opened by YBhg. Datin Paduka Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib, Director General of SEARCCT, who emphasized the importance of continuous capacity building for government officers.

The workshop featured four experienced speakers from government and security agencies who delivered structured sessions on the threat of terrorism, Malaysia’s current security landscape, Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE), and the use of the internet by terrorist networks.

An interactive Table-Top Exercise (TTX) enabled participants to apply knowledge gained through case-based group discussions, strengthening critical thinking, teamwork, and decision-making skills.

Participant feedback was highly positive and the practical learning activities incorporated throughout the course. The closing remarks were delivered by Ambassador Kennedy Mayong Onon, Deputy Director General II of SEARCCT, who reaffirmed the importance of inter-agency collaboration.

Going forward, SEARCCT and KPT see significant potential for continued cooperation in delivering similar capacity-building programmes. The success of this workshop provides an opportunity for future initiatives, including a dedicated P/CVE workshop, expansion to other agencies.
