SEARCCT

What is the primary role of SEARCCT in countering terrorism?

SEARCCT serves as a centre of excellence for research, capacity building, and public awareness. Our role is not that of a physical enforcement agency; rather, we focus on strengthening regional cooperation through technical training and strategic information sharing to counter extremist ideologies.

Our programmes are primarily designed for government officials, law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and academics from Southeast Asian nations and international dialogue partners. However, we also conduct public engagement initiatives involving youths, community leaders, and members of the media.

SEARCCT collaborates with various international organisations and technology companies to monitor extremist narrative trends. We focus on developing counter-narratives and training the public to improve digital literacy, ensuring individuals are less susceptible to terrorist propaganda on social media.

Yes. SEARCCT produces a variety of scholarly materials, including monographs, research articles, and annual reports regarding regional terrorism trends. A significant portion of these publications are available for download via the “Publications” section of our website for the use of academics and researchers.

We welcome strategic collaborations in the fields of research and training. Interested parties may contact us via the official enquiry form on our website or by emailing our officers to further discuss Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) or joint programme opportunities.
